Helpful Hints

To re-create the layout shown here, follow these helpful hints and the pattern Monologue™ as outlined on page 53 of our how-to book Imagine™. For more detailed information on how to assemble the featured layout, or to purchase a copy of Imagine, contact your Close To My Heart Consultant.

  • Use Desert Sand cardstock to create photo mats for photos 1 and 2 on pieces D and H.
  • In place of the two suggested photos, labeled photos 3, add journaling pockets made from Black cardstock and the plaid B&T Duos™ patterned paper. Create two 3" x 2" journaling tags from the patterned paper of your choice.
  • Use the edge distresser to rough the edges of the cardstock, the patterned paper, the filmstrip window, and the photos, as desired.
  • Use Twilight ink and the second generation stamping technique to create a pattern on pieces B and G.
  • Use Black ink and the sponging technique to distress the edges of some papers and photos, as desired.
  • Use a sewing machine and black thread to add stitching around some of the papers on the layout before you attach embellishments and photos.
  • To create the journal filmstrip, use the cutting knife to create a 2" window on piece B, placing it 1 1/4" from the right edge. Use the cutting knife to create a 2" × 1/4" window 1/2" to the right of the 2" window. Using a 2" × 12" piece of Black cardstock, add three 1 3/4" × 1 3/4" journaling squares to the filmstrip, evenly spaced. To finish the filmstrip, see the video for more detailed instructions.
  • Use the My Legacy Writer® to create part of the title, journaling, and doodled accents, as desired.
  • Use 3-D foam squares to add dimension to the journaling pockets and the photos, as desired.
  • Add Bitty Brads in circle patterns, as desired.
